'The second edition of this excellent text builds on the detail of the original – each chapter contains clear and concise information on all parts of the construction process from site investigations to finishes using high quality diagrams to support the text. Each chapter also contains self-assessment questions which help the student gauge their understanding of the main concepts – I would recommend this book not only to academics but to new vocational practitioners as an essential read. Brilliant.'
Ian Butt, Programme Leader HNC/D Construction and the Built Environment, City of Bath College

The report aims to promote the use of many common and exotic urban tree species for high-value solid wood products rather than processed for firewood, chipped to produce mulch or sent to landfill. With the challenges of global warming, climate change and population growth, and increasing concern in the UK that the demand for wholesome water will soon begin to exceed supply, a study was conducted to survey the acceptability of introducing low flow water fittings to domestic buildings. The study included: an experiment to test public opinion about low flow water fittings, focus group, survey of manufacturers and installers, and a literature review of public attitudes and behavior regarding water use. The results give an improved understanding of the barriers and enablers to water-efficient behavior which is essential to the appropriate installation of low flow rate appliances and their acceptance by the public.
