8th March 2013 marks International Women’s Day. This global event celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
Every year, thousands of events are held across the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. Women from all over the world are connected through a diverse range of events, including political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events, as well as local activities such as women’s craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more!
In places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national vacation. The first International Women’s Day in 1911 was introduced as part of the campaign for women’s right to vote. Today, International Women’s Day honours the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women’s successes and looks to address some of the inequalities that still exist around the world.
In 2013, Routledge Reference is adding to our already rich backlist of titles in the Major Works History of Feminism series.
The new collections publishing this year are introduced and edited by experts in the field, providing users with easy to access material that has previously been inaccessible or scattered across specialist books and journals.
