Gallit Zvi

Biography

Gallit Zvi is an elementary school teacher in Surrey, BC with experience teaching 4th through 7th grade.  She is currently on leave from her school district and is working as a Faculty Associate in the Education Department at Simon Fraser University where she teaches and supervises Teacher Candidates as they go through the teacher certification program.  Gallit has many years of experience mentoring both Teacher Candidates as well as experienced teachers and has coached many educators as they implement Genius Hour.

In 2012 Gallit created the very first website dedicated to Genius Hour--the collaborative wiki (geniushour.wikispaces.com) and she started the monthly #GeniusHour chat on Twitter and since then thousands of educators around the world have implemented Genius Hour in their classrooms.  In 2015 she co-wrote The Genius Hour Guidebook: Fostering Passion, Wonder and Inquiry in the Classroom with Denise Krebs. The two of them have also collaborated on the companion website, www.geniushourguide.org.
