Justin Dillon
Justin teaches on initial teacher education courses and Master’s courses with a focus on teacher development and education management – the subject of his PhD. After taking a degree in chemistry, Justin trained as a teacher and taught in six London schools before joining King’s College London in 1989 where he was a lecturer, senior lecturer and then professor. He joined the University of Bristol as Head of School in 2014.

Justin’s research focuses on learning and engagement in and out of schools. He was one of the coordinators of the UK Economic and Social Research Council's Targeted Initiative on Science and Mathematics Education (TISME). Justin is a member of the UK’s National Curriculum Science Expert Group. He co-edits the International Journal of Science Education and was President of the European Science Education Research Association from 2007-11. Justin has co-edited a number of books including Bad Education and the International Handbook of Research on Environmental Education.
