Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

In my practice, I privilege the use of a biographical approach as an opportunity to develop a reflection located at the crossroads between human sciences, philosophy and everyday life experience. My current work explores how people learn to interpret conflicts experienced around time, as well as the development of a specific critical capacity grounded in temporal and rhythmic awareness. I am dedicated in particular to further develop the rhythmanalytical project first envisioned by Gaston Bachelard and later reformulated by Henri Lefebvre. My teaching, coaching and research interests include among others: the use of life history and rhythmanalysis to promote critical self-reflection, complex ways of thinking, transformative learning, leadership development, or the development of transdisciplinary strategies of research.

I am currently a member of the Steering Committee of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults, a co-convenor of the "Interrogating Transformative Processes in Learning" Network within this association, a member of the International Transformative Learning Stewards' Group and a member of the scientific committee of the Italian Transformative Learning Network. I am also Associate Editor of "Complicity: An International Journal of Complexity and Education", a Consulting editor for the international journal "Journal of Transformative Education", an Editorial board member of the international French-speaking journal of adult education "Pratiques de Formation / Analyses", the international journal of biographical research "Le Sujet dans la Cité", the international journal on professionalization "Phronesis", the Polish journal in educational sciences "Teraźniejszość - Człowiek - Edukacja", the international journal "Transdisciplinary Journal of Engineering & Science" and the Canadian interdisciplinary journal "Ibuntu". I am also occasionally serving as an expert for the European Research Foundation.

Personal Interests

Another side of my life is dedicated to artistic expression. Grandson of a lifelong painter, I have been practicing photography for thirty years and I recently started using video as a way to study natural and social rhythms. My wife is a dance educator and we are currently collaborating on various educational and artistic projects merging our respective interests for space and time.
