Biography

PhD in History of Art from Universitat de València (Spain). Professor of Art History in the Department of History, Geography and Arts at the Universitat Jaume I (Spain). Principal Researcher of the group IHA (Iconografía e Historia del Arte / Iconography and Art History). For nine years he has been director of the Department of History, Geography and Arts at the Universitat Jaume I (Spain).Specialist in images of power and the image of kings, emblematic and ephemeral art, history of urbanism, Latin-American art and Valencian heritage. He has directed and involved in numerous research projects, highlighting: La construcción de la imagen del héroe en España y México: 1808-1847 (Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología. 1999-2002. Code: PB98-1053), La representación del poder en España y México en el tránsito al estado-nación: ceremonias, discursos, imágenes, 1810-1814 (Fundación Caixa Castelló-Bancaixa. 2004-2007. He has lectured in over eighty national and international congresses and symposia, in México, Portugal, France, the United States of America, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Bolivia, Peru, United Kingdom, Italy, Colombia, etcetera), and has directed a wide range of them. He has curated major exhibitions, like Iberoamérica Mestiza. Encuentro de pueblos y culturas (Santillana del Mar, Madrid, México, 2003/04), Ecuador. Tradición y Modernidad (Madrid, 2007) and Memoria del arte y espíritu cartujano. Las cartujas valencianas (Valencia, Castellón, 2010). In this moment, he is co-director of the scientific magazine Potestas (Universitat Jaume I) and coordinator of the Interuniversity Master of History of Art and Visual Culture (Universitat de Valància – Universitat Jaume I ) and the Interuniversity PhD Programme in History of Art (Universitat de València – Universitat Jaume I).
