In my research, I look at identity, cultural differences and inequality issues in education and work contexts. My recent publications include Equity, Opportunity and Education in Southeast Asia (2014, Routledge) and Growing up female in multi-ethnic Malaysia (2014, Routledge). My current publication projects include Education Reforms and Neoliberalism in the Asia-Pacific region and Identity, Culture and Innovation in the Knowledge Economy.

Biography

In my research, I examine identity, cultural differences and inequality issues in education and work contexts.   My recent publications include Equity, Opportunity and Education in Southeast Asia (2014, Routledge) and Growing up female in multi-ethnic Malaysia (2014, Routledge).  My current publication projects include Education Reforms and Globalisation in the Asia-Pacific region and Identity, Culture and Innovation in the Knowledge Economy. I am the President-Elect, Research Committee on Women in Society, International Sociological Association. I also sit on the editorial board of the journals Diaspora, Indigenous and Minority Education and Race, Ethnicity and Education. I was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Education, University of London (2006) and OISE, University of Toronto, Canada (2011).
