I research on naval affairs in the Indo-Pacific, focusing on Southeast Asia. My primary research interests cover naval modernization, naval arms control and defence diplomacy, with nuclear energy being a secondary interest. I have written several policy and peer-reviewed papers, edited book chapters as well as contributed to various media outlets on my research. In addition, I have taught various courses with the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute.

This article surveys Singapore and Vietnam's bilateral naval cooperation with India, examining it from the macroscopic level that is couched within the ASEAN context. It also seeks to identify, at the microscopic level, differences in the approaches of each of these bilateral arrangements, examining them from the perspectives of naval training and exercises; military-technical collaboration; and maintenance of naval presence in the region.
