John Foster
John foster taught English for twenty years before becoming a full-time writer. He is the author of over100 books for classroom use including the best-selling PSHE and Citizenship course Your Life. He is also a highly regarded children's poet, anthologist and poetry performer.
Biography
John Foster was born in Carlisle in 1941.and educated at Denstone College and Oxford University. He was a teacher for over 20 years before becoming a full-time writer. He has also worked in teacher-training at Westminster College and the Oxford Unversity Department of Educational Studies.He has written over 100 books for classroom use and is the author of the best-selling secondary school Personal Social and Health Education and Citizenship course Your Life (HarperCollins)
He is the country’s most prolific anthologist having compiled over 100 anthologies of children’s poetry. His best selling books include Twinkle Twinkle Chocolate Bar and the poetry collections illustrated by Korky Paul, such as Dinosaur Poems and Dragon Poems.
John has also written twelve books of his own poetry. His book The Poetry Chest containing over 250 of his own poems is published by Oxford University Press
He is also one of Britain’s leading poetry performers for children, well-known for his performances as a dancing dinosaur and a rapping granny.
