What are the possibilities of lesbian theory being adopted by the legal system? Lesbian theories are being formulated in literary criticism, sociology and philosophy, but legal theory, perhaps predictably, has been relatively intransigent. (IL)LEGALITIES is the first anthology devoted to legal theory as it is being developed in reaction to femenism, postmodernism, and the burgeoning law and literature movement, as well as legal theory as it is being practiced in the context of concrete problems applicable to lesbians.

This anthology is divided into five major categories: Discourse of Discrimination, Lesbians in (Il)legal Relationships, Lesbian Expressions, Lesbians in the Legal Process, and Lesbian Legal Theory in the Context of Femenisn and Postmodernism. Each of these chapters contain an extensive variety of selections, authored by lesbian legal theorists and practitioners.
