All Life Is Problem Solving

the translation from the German reproduces the warmth, the vigour and clarity of Poppers English style. Science and Christian Belief
All Life is Problem Solving is a stimulating and provocative selection of Poppers writing on some of the main preoccupations during the last twenty-five years of his life. The collection illuminates Poppers process of working out key formulations in his theory of science, and indicates his view of the state of the world at the end of the Cold War and after the collapse of communism.
The book is divided into two parts: theory of science, and history and politics. The first contains pieces on one of Poppers key scientific interests in the latter part of his career, namely the evolution of human knowledge, as well as an early formulation of his mature thoughts on the body-mind problem, and a lecture on Kepler on the anniversary of his death. The second part contains talks and articles on Poppers other preoccupations, the theory of liberty and democracy, the cynical interpretation of history, the collapse of communism, and his conception of life as a traial and error process of problem solving.
All Life is Problem Solving offers new insights into the thoughts of its author, one of the most important and controversial philosophers of our time.
Never before have there been so many and such dreadful weapons in so many irresponsible hands.Karl Popper, from the Preface
