What is the Routledge Revivals programme?

Routledge Revivals is a programme designed to reissue a wealth of out-of-print and unavailable titles written by some of the leading academic scholars of the last 120 years. To date, the programme includes titles by the likes of Sir Andrew Motion, Hermione Lee, Zygmunt Bauman, Karl Jaspers, Malcolm Bradbury, Simone Weil, Emile Durkheim, Charles Kindleberger and W. Arthur Lewis.

  1. Publishing Soon: Common Knowledge: The Development of Understanding in the Classroom

    This June, Routledge reissues Common Knowledge: The Development of Understanding in the Classroom under its Routledge Revivals program.

    First published in 1987, Common Knowledge was a radical departure from the traditionally individualistic psychologies which underpinned modern approaches to educational theory and practice. In this article, the title's authors, Derek Edwards and Neil Mercer, discuss their writing of the title and the research they have been involved in since its initial publication.

    This month sees the release of The Collected Works of James E. Meade, published as part of the Routledge Revivals program.

    James Edward Meade was a highly influential British economist and Nobel Laureate who, until retirement, held the post of Senior Research Fellow at Christ’s College, Cambridge. Born in Dorset, he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oriel College, Oxford.

    The Defences of the Weak: A Sociological Study of a Norwegian Correctional Institution, by Thomas Mathiesen (Professor emeritus of sociology of law in Oslo), reissues this year under our Routledge Revivals program.
