Jeane W. Anastas, L.M.S.W., Ph.D. is Professor at the School of Social Work at New York University. A full-time social work educator since 1980, she formerly served on the faculties of Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work and Smith College School of Social Work. She is the co-author of Not Just a Passing Phase: Social Work with Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual People (Columbia), and the author of Research Design for Social Work and Human Services (Jossey-Bass). Her recent articles have appeared in the Journal of Social Work Education and the Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services.
Allan Edward Barsky, J.D., M.S.W, Ph.D. is Professor at the Florida Atlantic University School of Social Work, where he is also Research Chair for the College of Architecture, Urban, and Public Affairs. He has a background in law, social work, and mediation. His books include Clinicians in Court (Guilford), Conflict Resolution for the Helping Professions (Brooks/Cole), Successful Social Work Education (Brooks/Cole), Interprofessional Practice with Diverse Populations (Guilford), and Alcohol, Other Drugs, and Addictions (Brooks/Cole). His research has been published in Family Courts Review, Negotiation Journal, Conflict Resolution Quarterly, and Journal of HIV/AIDS and Social Services.
Susan D. Cochran, M.S., Ph.D. trained in both clinical psychology and epidemiology. She is Professor of Epidemiology at UCLA’s School of Public Health and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Statistics. She is past Chair of the Faculty Advisory Committee for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies Program at UCLA, the APA Committee on Lesbian and Gay Concerns, and the American Statistical Association Committee on Gay and Lesbian Concerns in Statistics. Over the years, she has received awards for her research and professional activities from the National Lesbian and Gay Health Association, Division 44 of the American Psychological Association, the Association of Gay Psychologists, the National Gay Academic Union, the Committee on Lesbian and Gay Concerns of the American Psychological Association, and the UCLA Academic Senate.
Heather L. Corliss, M.P.H, Ph.D. is an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a researcher at Children's Hospital, Boston. Her research focuses on identifying health disparities of sexual and gender minority populations and on understanding the causes of such disparities. Her work has appeared in the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Women's Health, Child Abuse and Neglect, Preventive Medicine, and Contemporary Psychology. She is a member of the American Public Health Association and past Student Chair of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus of Public Health Workers. She is also a member of Delta Omega, the National Public Health Honor Society.
Elizabeth P. Cramer, M.S.W., Ph.D. is Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Cramer is the editor of Addressing Homophobia and Heterosexism on College Campuses (Haworth). She has published journal articles and book chapters on educational strategies to reduce the homophobia of social work students in such journals as Aretę, Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services, and the Journal of Social Work Education. Dr. Cramer recently received the National Lesbian and Gay Task Force's 2007 Clarity Award for pursuing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality through activism in academia. Dr. Cramer served on the editorial board of the Journal of Lesbian Studies and has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, Criminal Justice and Behavior, and the Journal of Social Work Education.
Anthony R. D’Augelli, Ph.D. is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Outreach in the College of Health and Human Development and Professor of Human Development in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. He is the co-editor of three books summarizing contemporary research on sexual orientation: Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Identities over the Lifespan (Oxford), Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Identities in Families (Oxford), and Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Identities and Youth (Oxford). He is the author of over one hundred professional papers, which have appeared in journals such as the American Journal of Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services. He is a senior editor of the American Journal of Community Psychology and is on the editorial boards of several journals, including the Journal of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Family Studies, and Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior.
Sarah-Jane Dodd, M.S.Ed., M.S.W, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Advanced Standing Program at the Hunter College School of Social Work, where she teaches social policy, health policy, research, and human sexuality. She provides program evaluation workshops and consultation for a variety of health and human service agencies and is currently co-authoring a book on Practice-Based Research (PBR). Dr. Dodd is a delegate to the NASW Delegate Assembly and a consulting editor for the Journal of Teaching in Social Work. Her articles have been published in a range of journals including Journal of Social Work Education, Health & Social Work, Nursing Ethics, Social Policy Journal, and the Journal of Teaching in Social Work.
Diane E. Elze, M.S.W., Ph.D. is Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, University at Buffalo, State University of New York. Dr. Elze’s publications have appeared in AIDS Education and Prevention, Children & Schools, Social Work Research, AIDS & Behavior, Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services, Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, Child Welfare, and Journal of Lesbian Studies. Her practice experience includes direct services, administration, and community education and training in areas of sexual assault and domestic violence; runaway and homeless youths; HIV case management; crisis intervention; advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities; gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youths; and HIV prevention for adolescents. Dr. Elze serves on the editorial boards of Health & Social Work, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, and Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services.
E. Michael Gorman, M.P.H., M.S.W., Ph.D., is Associate Professor and MSW Program Coordinator at San Jose State University’s School of Social Work, where he teaches research and social policy. Dr. Gorman worked in the fields of HIV/AIDS and substance abuse for many years, and he served as Principal Investigator of one of the first NIDA/NIH funded research projects addressing the interface of HIV and drug abuse among gay men. He currently serves on the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Social Work Practice and the Addictions, Journal of HIV and Social Services, and Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services. Dr. Gorman was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Tunis, Tunisia, and he has received two California State University research awards. He was recently named Scholar of the Year by the College of Applied Sciences and the Arts at San Jose State University.
