Figure of La Catrina by Leonardo Linares. Mexico City, 2002. One of the major fiestas throughout Mexico today is the annual "Day of the Dead", celebrated for two days each November. This is the Mexican version of the Christian feast days of All Saints' and All Souls'. Seen here is the papier-mâché figure of La Catrina, a character made famous by the engraver José Guadalupe Posada in the late nineteenth century. Figure owned by Chloë Sayer.
