The Ambigu-Comique Theatre in Parisc.1830. The original theatre of this name was located on the Boulevard du Temple, a street famous in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century for its theatres devoted to melodrama. It was destroyed by fire in 1827, a commonplace disaster for theatres at the time. The 1828 version of the Ambigu-Comique in this print, built on the rue St. Martin, continued the tradition of spectacular melodrama. Unsigned nineteenth century engraving ,
