About the Author
Paul Hartley read French and German at the University
of Leeds, and completed his M.Phil and Ph.D at the same university.
He worked as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Principal Lecturer in
Modern Languages at the University of Wolverhampton, and was subsequently
Dean of the School of International Studies and Law at Coventry
University. He is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the
University of Gloucestershire.
Paul has researched and published in the areas of German literature,
language and computer-assisted language learning. He is the author
of several German language courses and reference texts and has extensive
experience as external examiner at various universities. He has
also worked as Chief Examiner in setting and moderating examinations
for the Institute of Linguists and the Royal Society of Arts. He
is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
