Child Language Data
The CHILDES database contains transcripts from approximately 100
major research projects, and although approximately half the data
is from children acquiring English, 25 other languages are represented
as well. Almost all of the data is from spontaneous interactions
in natural contexts. CHILDES includes current research as well as
the classics in the field, such as Brown's transcripts of Adam,
Eve, and Sarah, and several major corpora from children with language
disorders. All data is freely available for download.

The (UK) National Curriculum in Action website has a large database
of pupils' written and oral work. If you are looking for the work
produced by children from 5-11 years old, do a search on Key Stages
1 and 2.

The Switzerland based Forum du Bilinguisme held a competition called
'Children draw multilingualism' where school children from all over
Europe were invited to express their feelings about bilingualism
and the multilingual identity of their hometown or region through
their drawings. Their delightful drawings (some of them with a brief
commentary) are available on the competition's website.

Kid's Space has a large archive of children's stories,
poems, letters and schoolwork. The site navigation is a bit chaotic,
but start your browsing with the 'Story Book' section.
The children's work is largely from American and Canadian
schools, although other English-speaking countries are also represented.

Kids on the Net from Nottingham Trent University is another good
source for children's writing. The children's writing
is predominantly from UK schools, but there are many examples from
other English speaking countries.
