Gap fill

In this unit you met the days, the months and the seasons. Here is a little rhyme in Italian. Some words are not given in full. Can you complete them? The word order is rather free. This is verse of sorts!

(The beginning letter of each answer is in brackets. Enter the full word in the space provided and check your score after each section.)

1. Trenta giorni ha (n) , con (a) ,

(g) e (s) . Di ventotto c'è ne solo uno,

tutti gli altri ne hanno trentuno.

The last two lines translate literally: There is only one of them of 28 (days). All the others have 31 of them.

You almost certainly know the English equivalent verse. The Italian doesn't spell out which month is the one with 28 days.

What is the Italian name for it?

Technically the seasons have precise start and finish dates. Here these are stated in Italian. Can you (a) complete the statements and (b) say which other months are included in each season:

2.(a) La (p) va dal 22 (m)
al 21 (g) .
(b) &

3. (a) L'(e) va dal 22 (g)

al 21 (s) .
(b) &

4. (a) L'(a) va dal 22 (s)

al 21 (d) .
(b) &

5. (a) L'(i) va dal 22 (d)
al 21 (m)
(b) &
