Present tense

After practising the passato prossimo in Unit 10 you perhaps need a little reminder of the present. You may want to look back to the units where you met the form of various verbs (e.g. pp. 56, 70, 77-78, 93, 96). Then complete the exercise below.

Replace the infinitives which are printed in brackets with the correct form of the present tense of that verb.

1. Luke (studiare) l'italiano in un corso intensivo per adulti in Italia. Ogni giorno (andare) alla scuola presto la mattina. Le lezioni (cominciare) alle nove ma Luke (preferire) arrivare presto in centro.

 

2. Generalmente (entrare) in un bar vicino alla scuola dove (incontrare) altri studenti che (seguire) lo stesso corso.

 

3. Insieme (prendere) un cappuccino, (mangiare) una pasta, (leggere) il giornale o (parlarsi) in italiano, la loro lingua comune.


4. Così già a colazione (usare) la lingua che (studiare) . Poi, verso le nove meno dieci, uno di loro (dire) : ‘Su ragazzi, (andare) , (dovere) entrare in classe'. La loro giornata di studio (stare) per cominciare.
