Settle pupils.

 

Q&A recap of Hugh’s daily life. Show the A3 storyboard again to prompt pupils’ memories.

Explain that today the pupils are going to create their own ‘day in the life’ storyboard for Edward. Remind pupils about Edward’s basic life.

 

20 mins

Pupils should independently research what Edward might do during a typical day. Notes should be made in their exercise books.

Planned intervention 1: focus pupils to the relevant pages in the text books.

Planned intervention 2: ask pupils to think of two things that Edward would do in the morning , then two things that he would do in the afternoon, then for the evening.

Planned intervention 3: more able pupils should aim to increase the number of boxes from 6 to 8 (or beyond). Weaker pupils may only have 4 boxes.

Hand out A3 paper. Pupils should divide their paper into as many boxes as they need. Make sure that the pupils write in the captions BEFORE drawing the pictures. Pupils should complete their storyboard and colour it in

Spend a few minutes sharing some of Edward’s daily activities.

Storyboards should be finished for homework. There should be no need for pupils to take their books home.
