About the Authors
Jack Hassard
Jack Hassard is Professor Emeritus of Science Education at Georgia State University. He is author of more than 20 books on science education, and a leader in the development of constructivist-based teacher education programs and professional development seminars for teachers of science. Dr. Hassard was Director and developer of the Global Thinking Project, one of the first Internet project-based environmental programs that created a network of schools around the world.

Michael Dias
With fourteen years of experience as a high school science teacher, Michael Dias now coordinates the biology education program at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Dias' pragmatic and passionate approach to science teaching and teacher education is shaped by his experiences with teachers and students in rural, suburban, and urban middle and high schools. His research and service focuses on science teacher induction, mentoring, and inquiry pedagogy. Through collaboration with science teachers and teacher educators, Dr. Dias seeks to mitigate the theory-practice gap through problem-based approaches to teacher development that promote reflective and progressive teaching practices.
