Professional Travel
Toured Israel's borders and occupied territories in November 2002 to better understand Israeli national strategy and security issues for my course, The Arab-Israeli Wars. Organized and conducted tours (staff rides) of European battlefields and historic sites in England, France, Germany, and Luxembourg in 1988, '89, and '90 to educate West Point cadets and myself on the World War II advance of the US Army from Normandy into Germany and to collect materials for my course on World War II and my book, Omaha Beach: A Flawed Victory. Toured American Revolution and Civil War battlefields in 1987 and '88 to educate myself on the conduct of battles and to collect materials for my course on The American Military Experience.
