    Biography

    Robert A . Karlowich is associate professor in the Graduate School of Computer, Information and Library Sciences at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He was formerly Head of Slavic Acquisitions at Columbia University Libraries, and Slavic Bibliographer and Head of Slavic Acquisitions at the University of Illinois Library. Professor Karlowich earned an M.S. and a D.L.S. in library service from Columbia University, and did graduate work at Yale University and at the Institute of Culture in Leningrad, USSR. He is a member of numerous professional associations and committees. Among his other publications, Professor Karlowich edited Libraries, Bibliographies, and Books in Russia in 1917-1935: A Preliminary Bibliography of Books and Serials on the Period Published in the Soviet Union, 1946–1985.
