About the Editor

Patricia L. Hale, MD, PhD, FACP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and has worked and lectured extensively in the area of medical informatics for over ten years with a special interest in electronic prescribing and medication management. She is a member of the HIMSS Patient Safety Steering Committee and chairs their Task Force on Electronic Prescribing. She is also co-chair of the Work Group on Interoperability for the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) and a juror for their product certification testing. On the New York state level, Dr. Hale has participated in several statewide groups on health information technology and electronic prescribing and is currently Vice Chair of the New York e-Collaborative. She is co-author of a textbook on electronic medical records published by ACP/ASIM as well as a comprehensive report on electronic prescribing published by the e-Health Initiative.
