    Biography

John Lechte is Professor in Sociology and teaches social theory at Macquarie University, Australia. He has taught and published widely on many aspects of modern thought and culture.

'[Fifty Key Contemporary Thinkers] should be commended for providing lucid, insightful introductions to its chosen thinkers, each one of whom deserves serious consideration ... Lechte does not claim to provide a comprehensive analysis of his selected authors but simply to introduce the foundational ideas that orient newcomers to each thinker’s vocabulary and whet their appetites for further engagement. In this, the author succeeds admirably and this second edition of a fine work will be particularly helpful for many, especially for students of literary theory, of cultural studies and of philosophy in the traditions of structuralism and semiotics.'Robert Ó’Móchain, Osaka University, Japan, Discourse & Communication
