Biography
Dr. Rosemarie Said Zahlan was one of the foremost academic historians of the Gulf states. She was the author of The Origins of the United Arab Emirates; The Creation of Qatar; and The Making of the Modern Gulf States.
"The author of irreplaceable studies on the Arabian Gulf region, the late Rosemarie Said Zahlan, set research standards for her colleagues, which are now supplemented with a final tome that explores various relationships between Palestine and Gulf societies. Said Zahlan painstakingly illustrates how Westerners tried to change the subject for over 60 years and how Arabs insisted that the question of Palestine was immutable as the centre of their attention."
