Hazel L Reid
Hazel teaches at graduate, post-graduate and Masters level on courses associated with UK qualifications for career guidance practitioners. Her previous work was as a careers adviser in Sussex, where her last post was managing a community-based careers centre. She teaches in the area of practical skills and processes, career and guidance theory and careers education. In addition, she works with Careers/Connexions partnerships delivering theory-into-practice workshops. She is programme director for the MA in Career Education, Development and Guidance. Hazel is co-chair of the Research Committee for the Institute of Career Guidance, she sits on the editorial board of the Institute’s journal, and has recently joined the Research Policy and Practice Steering Group of the National Youth Agency. Hazel is also a member of the Institute of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ILTHE) – now known as the Higher Education Academy.
Hazel has published widely and presented papers at national and international conferences. Her current research for a doctoral study, nearing completion, is associated with the development of support and supervision for careers advisers who move to a personal adviser role.
Jane is a senior lecturer teaching on guidance related programmes at graduate, post graduate and Masters level. Jane is programme director for the Personal Adviser Diploma and Understanding Connexions courses. In addition she teaches on a supervision course, designed for those working within the Connexions context who are offering support and supervision to Personal Advisers. Jane is a qualified and practicing counsellor. She works with young people who present with multiple and complex needs. In this context, Jane has direct experience of both individual and group supervision.
Jane has recently delivered a paper on the relationship between counselling and the role of the PA at an international conference in Switzerland. The presentation focused on the issues raised in relation to supporting and supervising those who are working in support of young people. Jane is a member of the ILTHE (now known as the Higher Education Academy) and is an accredited UKCP registered counsellor.
