Routledge Studies in Jurisdiction and Pluralisms

About the Series

This series focuses on the impact of a pluralism of pluralisms on jurisdiction, the public function whose purpose is to ensure a uniform application and development of the law. The series begins from the premise that the plural foundations of contemporary legal orders of the western legal tradition have been and continue to experience an ongoing and increasing process of consolidation and development. As a result, the well-established principles of unity and uniformity of jurisdiction are challenged producing significant consequences for the organisation of the judiciary and on the role of its highest courts as well as on the consistency of the rules to be interpreted and applied. The volumes included in the series explore the impact on the basic features of the judicial organization and function, analysing ways of accommodation and attempting to draw some insights from the coexistence of different normative systems - whether they be a nation-state or an international or supranational jurisdiction – and legal traditions.
