About the Editor

KAZUHISA MIYOSHI is Senior Research Scientist and Engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio. The author, coauthor, editor, or coeditor of more than 160 journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and books, he is the regional editor (Americas) for Tribology International, an associate editor for New Dia,rwnd and Frontier Carbon Technology, and a member of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, the Japanese Society of Tribologists, the American Vacuum Society, and the American Ceramic Society. The recipient of the Space Flight Awareness Award and the Technology Transfer Award ( l 98fr2000) from the NASA Technical Utilization Program, Dr. Miyoshi received the 8.S.M.E. degree ( 1968) from the Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan, and the M.S.P.E. ( 1970) and Ph.D. ( 1975) degrees from Osaka University, Japan.
