About the Authors

Susan A. Vowels is the Constance F. and Carl W. Ferris Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Business Management at Washington College. She teaches Management Information Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, and Business Analytics. She is also co-director of the College’s Information Systems Minor and has served as the Washington College SAP University Alliance Faculty Coordinator for the past fourteen years. She holds an MBA from the University of Delaware and a BA from St. John’s College in Annapolis. She is currently pursuing a DBA at Wilmington University, with the expectation of earning the degree in Spring 2018. She has been an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) since 2007. Prof. Vowels joined Washington College in 2002 after a successful career in industry.

Katherine L. Goldberg’s role as a data professional started in her undergraduate degree when she designed her own major in Mathematical Biology at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. She then worked in client support for Essential Technologies, a software company that provided environmental data collection and reporting solutions for Fortune 500 companies. In 2002, she entered the world of academia by becoming the HelpDesk manager of Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. In 2005, she was offered a newly created job as Director of Advancement Services for College Advancement. In 2013, she completed a certificate in Fundraising Operations from the Susan B. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University. She completed her Masters of Data Analytics from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and was inducted as a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She is an instructor in the Fundraising Operations program at Rice University, a Teaching Assistant in the Masters of Data Analytics program at UMUC and a Lecturer of Business Management teaching Business Analytics at Washington College.
