Description

This is a classic work of archaeology by one of the premier figures in the field. First published in 1971, A.M. Snodgrass' The Dark Age if Greece is the most comprehensive and coherent account available of this period of ancient Greece.

Reviews

"A book which attempts much and achieves much. It has the paradoxical distinction of conjuring order and light from the shadows and uncertainties of a truly dark age." -- Antiquity

"A comprehensive archaeological and interpretive survey of the dark age…a study in which students of these formative centuries in Greek history will have an important handbook as well as find challenging ideas." -- American Journal of Archaeology
