    Published in this volume are various Spanish documents concerning the Armada; a journal of one of Blake’s officers in the mid seventeenth century; Boscawen’s letters to his wife; the account of a Swedish officer who served in the French Navy during the Seven Years War; selections from the Hood papers regarding Prince William’s service in the navy; Nelson in Corsica; Congreve’s introduction of rocket warfare and letters from St Vincent to supplement the earlier volumes on him (see NRS Volumes 55 and 61).

    Biography

    Christopher Lloyd was born in 1904, and educated at Marlborough College and Lincoln College, Oxford. From 1930 to 1934 he lectured at Bishop’s College, Canada, and then at Britannia, Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. In 1945 he moved to the Royal Naval College, Greenwich and from 1962 to his retirement in 1967 was Professor of History there.
