About the Editors

Naznin Sultana

After obtaining her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, one of the best universities in the world, Dr. Naznin Sultana served as an Associate Professor in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She was awarded a Masters degree from KULeuven, Belgium and B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. She is currently working in Prairie View A&M University in Texas, USA. Dr. Sultana has made original contributions of major significance to the field of biomedical engineering, including but not limited to establishing improved techniques to fabricate composite biomaterial scaffolds for tissue engineering, developing biodegradable polymer-based membranes for controlled release drug delivery and skin tissue engineering, and fabricating conductive polymer-based membranes. Dr. Naznin Sultana has published more than 60 indexed technical research papers, three books, several book chapters, 22 peer-reviewed conference proceedings articles and she has significant involvement in collaboration with other academicians from other institutes and countries. Dr. Sultana’s published work has been consistently cited in the field in the past several years. She is a member of the editorial board of two international journals. She has served as a reviewer of many ISI indexed journals. Her research interests include fabrication of polymer and composite scaffolds for tissue engineering, electrospun membranes for drug delivery, Membranes for tissue regeneration, synthesis of nanohydroxyapatite, evaluation of biomaterials, surface coating, Polymer degradation, cell-scaffold interaction, diffusion study in scaffolds, controlled release of biomolecules/drugs, antibacterial coating, conductive polymers for biomedical applications etc. Her research article was selected as Key Scientific Article by Global Medical Discovery (Canada) which only selects articles that are of "special interest to the drug development sector". Dr. Naznin Sultana is also a full professional member of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3, UK). She is holding the title of Chartered Engineer (CEng) by Engineering Council, UK and Chartered Scientist (CSci) by The Science Council, UK. She is a member of American Chemical Society (ACS), IEEE, Australian wound and Tissue Repair society, Australian society of biomaterials and tissue engineering (ASBTE).

Dr. Sanchita Bandyopadhyay-Ghosh obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield, UK with the prestigious ‘Overseas Research Scholarship’. Before joining Sheffield, she was awarded Pre-doctoral Fellowship from University of Leuven, Belgium, where in addition to pursuing research on carbon fibre composites, she also joined the European Postgraduate Programme in Polymer and Composite Engineering (EUPOCO). Following her Ph.D., she worked as a Teaching Research Fellow at Alfred University, USA. She later joined the Centre for Biocomposites and Biomaterials Processing at the University of Toronto, Canada as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow (2007-2013). During this tenure, she was also selected for ‘Virtual Researcher on Call Program’ from Govt. of Ontario, Canada.Dr. Sanchita Bandyopadhyay-Ghosh is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ). Before joining MUJ she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS Pilani). During her teaching and research career, Dr. Bandyopadhyay-Ghosh has received several awards including the prestigious ‘Ivoclar Vivadent Biomaterials Award’ from U.K. She is currently engaged in developing nano-biomaterials using tunable nanocellulose, sustainable additive manufacturing, novel bioceramics and biodegradable nanocomposites. Her pro-active initiatives have successfully brought Extramural, Endowment and Industrial research grants from various funding agencies. She has set up the BIONAC Research Laboratory at MUJ within a short span of time, where research scholars and students are engaged in various research programs related to bio-nanomaterials. With the synergistic approach between bio-inspired materials and nanotechnology, her group aims to develop next generation sustainable bio-nanocomposite materials for biomedical applications.

Dr. Chin Fhong Soon obtained her first-class honors bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1999. Two years after that, she was awarded a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering (Medical Electronics) from Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn. In 2011, she was awarded PhD in Molecular and Biomedical Engineering from University of Bradford, United Kingdom.She started her career as a lecturer at Politeknik Shah Alam and she joined Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in year 2001. During her tenure at UTHM, she served as a lecturer and head of laboratory from year 2001 to 2008. Upon her return from her PhD, she was appointed as the head of Department of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering UTHM between 2015-2016. In year 2015, she was promoted as an associate professor of the university and currently, she is still serving at UTHM. In addition to her teaching, she served as a Biosafety Officer in year 2014. Currently, she is the chairman of Biosafety Committee at the university and Head of Research Group at Microelectronics and Nanotechnology Shamsuddin Research Center (MiNT-SRC) which is a center of excellent of the university.Dr. Chin Fhong Soon obtained her first-class honors bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1999. In addition to her academic duties, she is a charted engineer (CEng) registered with Council of United Kingdom and has developed projects meeting the industry’s requirements. She is also an active senior member of IEEE-EMBS. Out of her research and innovations, she has 3 patents and one copyright filed. She has won numerous gold and silver medals at national and international levels from Seoul International Invention Fair 2014, British Invention Show 2014, ITEX 2013 and Malaysia Technology Expo 2013. Her significant achievement is winning the Woman Bio-Innovator in Malaysia Science Innovation in year 2013. Nonetheless, she has been invited as invited speaker at MNC meeting 2017 and serves as reviewers for Biosensor and Bioelectronics, Medical Engineering and Physics and Jurnal Teknologi Recently she is the editor for Advances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering: From theory to applications AIP conference proceedings
