I am primarily a philosopher of social science, with many related interests, especially the relation of social science to cognitive science, and such topics as the history of the social sciences, of Progressivism, the history of methodology and statistics, experts and expertise, philosophy of law, general philosophical issues about such things as normativity, tacit knowledge, and so on. I studied under Richard Rorty and Edward Shils, but did my graduate work in the midwest.
