Svein Anders Noer Lie

Associate Professor
University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway

I am an associate professor at the university where I also did most of my studies: Philosophy, biology and anthropology. My main research interest goes in the direction of environmental philosophy, a subject that I also teach at the university. Ontology, philosophy of science and philosophy of medicine are other areas of interest.

Subjects: Philosophy

Birdwatching once got me into the idea of studying biology at the university.  Studying biology got me into philosophy. Studying philosophy got me into carpeting. Carpeting send me back to philosophy.
Me and my family lives by the shoreline in a fjord called Kaldfjord, about 20 km from the city center of Tromsø, where you find the northernmost university in the world. It's hard to get used to the clear crispy sky at night, the northern lights, the midnight sun and the humpback whales and orcas "breathing into the darkness” less than 150 meters from our house. Come visit!
