Takashi Yamaguchi

Biography

Takashi Yamaguchi received his M.S. and Dr. Eng. from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1981 and 1998, respectively. He has started his career with Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. since 1981. From 1986 to 1987, he studied at the University of California, Berkeley as an industrial visiting researcher. From 1988 to 2002, he worked for Hitachi Ltd. to develop HDD head positioning control technology. From 2003 to 2008, he worked for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies as a senior manager of servo mechanics group, Advanced Technology Development Division to develop HDD mechanics and servo control technology. He joined Ricoh Company Ltd. in 2008 and since then he has been engaged in developing mechatronics related technology for printers and other office devices. He is now a general manager of Core Technology Development Center and an Executive engineer.

He received engineering awards from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers in 2000 and 1997 respectively. He received a book award from the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers in 2010. He is a fellow of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. He has published about 150 papers and articles including three books as a chief editor and one of authors, two in English and one in Japanese.
