Dr Ahmad Shahid Khan is presently a visiting professor in Mewat Engineering College (Wakf), Palla, Nuh, Haryana, India. Earlier he served AMU Aligarh for 34 years in various capacities including as Professor and Chairman of Electronics Engg. Department. Dr. Khan obtained degrees of B. Sc. Engg. M. Sc. Engg. and Ph. D. from AMU in 1968, 1971 and 1980, respectively; all in Electrical Engineering.

Biography

Dr. Khan was born on 02-01-1945. He obtained degrees of B. Sc. Engg. M. Sc. Engg. and Ph. D. in 1968, 1971 and 1980 all in Electrical Engg. from AMU Aligarh, INDIA. He was awarded University Medal by AMU in 1971 and Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Memorial Gold Medal by the Institution of Engineers India in 1978.
He edited a “Laboratory Manual” which was published by Dept. of Electronics Engg. AMU Aligarh. He revised a book on “Antennas – for all applications” by Kraus and Marhefka and added one chapter on “Antenna Array Analysis and Synthesis.” This Indian adopted (3rd) edition was published in 2006 by Tata McGraw hill, New Delhi. This book was again revised by adding six new chapters in its 4th edition. This edition with a new title “Antennas & Wave Propagation” was published in 2010 by Tata McGraw hill.  Its 9th reprint appeared in July, 2013. In these editions his name was included as a co-author.
He published 23 research papers in International/National Journals and Conference proceedings. His research work relates to the applications of electromagnetic field theory.
Dr Khan has taught subjects mainly related with the electronics area including Microwave Engg. Antennas and Wave Propagation, Radars, Navigational Aids, Satellite Communication, Optical Communication and Cellular Radio and Mobile Communication at UG or PG level.
In 1978 he was deputed by AMU to visit IIT Kharagpur to study Microwave and Radar Laboratory. He attended courses on “Electromagnetics, Computer Techniques and Recent Trends”, IIT Kanpur, Dec.11-22, 1978, “Microwave Communication”, IISC Bangalore, Nov. 1982, “Principles of Telematics” June 26 to July 9 and “Signal Processing in Telematics”, IIT, Delhi, July 10 to July 15, 1989.
He is a Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecomm. Engineers (India), Member of Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education and Life Member of the Systems Society of India.
Since March 1972 He served AMU in various capacities including as Professor and Chairman Department of Electronics Engg. Registrar of the university and as Estate Officer (Gazetted). After retirement He served as professor in Krishna Institute of Engg. & Technology (KIET), and Institute of Management Studies (IMS), both in Ghaziabad, and both affiliated to UP Technical University, Luknow, INDIA. He also served as Director of IIMT Meerut, VCTM Aligarh and JCET Rampur. Presently He is serving Mewat Engineering College (Wakf), Affiliated to MDU, Rohtak, Haryana, INDIA, as a visiting Professor.
