Dr Moritz Pieper is a lecturer in International Relations at the University of Salford. He completed his PhD at the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies. During his time at Kent, he also was a visiting Research Fellow at China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), Beijing, at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), Brussels, and at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.

Biography

Dr Moritz Pieper is a lecturer in International Relations at the University of Salford. He completed his doctoral research at the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies, where he also taught International Relations Theories as a Teaching Assistant. During his studies, he gathered relevant work experience at the State Chancellery of Northrhine-Westphalia, the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation’s regional office in Moscow and the German embassy in Moscow.

Personal Interests

    Besides academia, Dr Pieper is a travel writer, and has published two travel books (one on his journey from China via Mongolia and Russia back to Europe on the landroute, published by Manuela-Kinzel-Verlag, 2016, another on his journey through the Western Balkans, published by Reisebuch-Verlag, 2017). He is also a marathon runner.
