Sarbeswar Sahoo
Sarbeswar Sahoo is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. During 2011–13, he was Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Weber Center, University of Erfurt, Germany. In early 2017, Sahoo was Charles Wallace Visiting Fellow at the Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Sahoo received his PhD in Sociology from the National University of Singapore and has held visiting positions at Roskilde, Muenster, Groningen, Cardiff, Belfast and Singapore.
Biography
Sarbeswar Sahoo is Associate Professor of Sociology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. During 2011–13, he was Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Weber Center for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies at the University of Erfurt, Germany. In early 2017, Sahoo was Charles Wallace India Trust Visiting Fellow in the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics at the Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Sahoo received his PhD in Sociology from the National University of Singapore and has held visiting positions at Roskilde University (Denmark), University of Muenster (Germany), University of Groningen (the Netherlands), University of Cardiff (UK), Queen’s University Belfast (UK) and National University of Singapore (Singapore). His research interests include neoliberal globalisation, civil society and democratisation and sociology of religion. Sahoo has published in several national and international journals. His recent book is Civil Society and Democratization in India: Institutions, Ideologies and Interests (London, New York: Routledge, 2013).Education
