Dr. Tenore's career in education began as a high school English teacher in Kannapolis, NC, where his interest in critical approaches to education began as he struggled to resist complicity in the marginalization and oppression of his students from working class families. After doctoral work at Vanderbilt University, he enjoyed living and working near the Catskills in upstate New York at Hartwick College. Presently, he leads the English education program at Florida State University.
