Mark Greeven


Mark J. Greeven is a Chinese-speaking Dutch Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Zhejiang University School of Management in China. Since 2004 he has interviewed hundreds of local Chinese business owners and advised Chinese innovative companies and entrepreneurial multinationals. He is on the 2017 Thinkers50 Radar list of 30 next generation business gurus.

Biography

Mark Greeven (PhD, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University) is Chinese speaking Dutch Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China), Director for the MBA program Global Entrepreneurship Program and research fellow at the China’s National Institute for Innovation Management, the China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Center for Global R&D and Innovation (GLORAD). Before moving to China, he worked as faculty at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He is selected on the 2017 Thinkers50 Radar list of 30 next generation business gurus.

He has focused on innovation & entrepreneurship, cross cultural management and global R&D in, to and from China for over a decade. Findings of his research are published in international academic journals such as European Management Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Telecommunications Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management, newspapers like The Financial Times, South China Morning Post, Nikkei Asian Review, and China Daily. He published a case series on Alibaba and recently published his book “Business ecosystems in China: Alibaba and competing Baidu, Tencent, Xiaomi and LeEco” (Routledge, 2017). His second book “China’s hidden innovators: From Alibaba to Zongmu” is forthcoming in 2018.

He has been collaborating closely with hundreds of Chinese and foreign ventures and advising Fortune 500 MNCs in China and in Europe about their innovation strategy and intrapreneurship since 2004. He has successfully developed and delivered workshops and curricula on innovation and entrepreneurship for MNCs like Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Phillip, DSM, Bosch, and international business schools like CEIBS, RSM and ESMT.
