Preston de Guise

Advisory Systems Engineer
Dell EMC Australia

Data storage protection expert, with 20+ years experience. A broad and deep understanding of business as well as IT drivers relating to data protection, having worked in customer, system integrator and vendor roles and across almost all industry verticals. More recently branching out into ethics in IT and modern technology.

I've worked in data storage protection my entire career, having started in the 90s as a Unix system administrator. When I first joined the system administration team, I was told "we've just installed this new backup programme - since you're the junior, you can run it". Of course, in reality, you want your most senior people involved in data protection, but if I'd not been given that task I may not have developed such a passion for data storage protection.
