John Michael Collins

Retired Management Consultant

John Michael Collins M.Sc. is a retired industrial technologist and a past Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance. He has spent thirty years advising businesses to make Improvements in Quality, Customer Service and overall efficiency. As a Management Consultant, he advised many blue chip companies and national corporations to apply sound quality principles, how to achieve certification to the relevant Quality Management System Standard or implement continuous improvement programmes.

Biography

Mike, now retired, has been a professionally accredited, Certified Management Consultant (IMC) having spent 15 years as a line manager and over 5 years as a consultant with Price Waterhouse before becoming Principal of his own practice in 1991. His specialisms are business process improvement and culture change through the implementation of continuous improvement methods.
He has assisted clients in both manufacturing and service sectors to improve business processes, often by implementing Continuous Improvement and Total Quality, by providing consulting advice and training courses. He has advised a number of major organisations on Quality Management topics and has personally assisted over 30 organisations become registered to ISO 9001 and its predecessors.

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

    Mike's professional expertise is in applying quality management and quality control to a wide range of industrial and business products and services.

Personal Interests

    When not writing, Mike and his wife Pauline enjoy spending time with their two sons, and their families. They also like fell walking in the English Lake District, North Wales, Cheshire, North West Scotland and the Pennines.

    Mike works in the community with Rotary and specialises in landscape photography.

    For the last thirty years he has been researching the flying career of his father (Squadron Leader Jack Collins, DFC and Bar, 1913-1944) who flew Hawker Hurricanes and Typhoons during World War 2 before his death in Normandy in August 1944. This is now summarised in  a book "Discovering my Father".
