BiographyI am currently working as a Human Factors specialist mainly in the maritime and healthcare domains but with significant experience in office and industrial ergonomics. I have extensive experience in the investigation of safety occurrences in large organisations. My background is as manager of a Human Factors Department of six staff, whilst maintaining active interests in consulting and acting as an expert witness in medico-legal litigation. I have also supported the academic programmes of universities in the UK, Norway and South Africa. This year, I was appointed President of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
I am the author of the fourth edition of the textbook, 'Introduction to Human Factors and Ergonomics' published by CRC Press, Boca Raton, Fl, USA in 2018. A complex Chinese edition was published in 2012. My new book 'A Guide to Active Work in the Modern Office: Homo Sedens in the 21st Century' has just been published by CRC Press.
