Alexandra R Harrington
Dr. Alexandra R. Harrington is a Lecturer in Law at Lancaster University Law School and Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law Agreement on Plastic Pollution Task Force. She has also held two Fulbright terms in Canada. Dr. Harrington is the author of several books, including International Organizations and the Law, International Law and Global Governance: Treaty Regimes and Sustainable Development Goals Interpretation, Just Transitions and the Future of Law and Regulation.
Biography
Prof. Dr. Alexandra R. Harrington is the Executive Director of the Center for Global Governance and Emerging Law and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Albany Law School, where her teaching focuses on international law issues. She is also Research Director of the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law and the Director of Studies for ILA Colombia. She has held two Fulbright terms in Canada at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, focusing on global governance issues.She is the author and co-editor of several books, including International Organizations and the Law and the forthcoming International Law and Global Governance: Treaty Regimes and Sustainable Development Goals Interpretation. She routinely advises international organizations and governments on governance issues, environmental law, legal issues relating to climate change, sustainable development and international human rights law. A native of the United States and the United Kingdom, she holds a Doctorate of Civil Law (McGill University Faculty of Law), in addition to a JD, LL.M. and BA degrees in Politics and History.

Dr. Harrington will be speaking and moderating panels at the "Legal Solutions for Sustainability: Innivative International Instruments and the SDGs" event hosted by the Balsillie School of International Affairs and the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. The event will take place on May 30th in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and will convene experts from fields such as international environmental law, indigenous treaties, and trade and investment law.
