Irene Costantini is a Post-Doc Researcher at the University of Naples, l’Orientale. She holds a PhD from the University of Trento (School of International Studies). Prior to her current position, Irene worked as a Researcher at the University of York and at the Middle East Research Institute (MERI), Erbil, Iraq. She works on the politics of international interventions, conflict and post-conflict transition, and processes of state transformation in the Middle East and North Africa.

Biography
Irene Costantini is a Post-Doc Research Fellow in International Relations at the University of Naples, l’Orientale. She holds a PhD from the University of Trento (School of International Studies) where she graduated with a dissertation titled “Statebuilding versus state formation: the political economy of transition in Iraq and Libya”. Prior to her current position, Irene worked as a Research Fellow at the Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit, University of York and at the Middle East Research Institute (MERI), Erbil, Iraq.Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

Her research interests include the politics of international interventions, the political economy of conflict and post-conflict transition, and processes of state transformation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, focusing on Iraq and Libya. She is the author of Statebuilding in the Middle East and North Africa: the Aftermath of Regime Change (Routledge Studies in Intervention and Statebuilding, 2018). She published in peer-reviewed journals, including International Peacekeeping, the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, Conflict, Security & Development and The International Spectator, in addition to other contributions in edited volumes.
