Biography

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Masters degree in Education, as well postgraduate qualifications in child development. After qualifying as a secondary school teacher in 2004 I taught A-level Psychology and Sociology in schools across North and West Yorkshire.

My first book, The Emotional Learner was published in 2017 followed in early 2018 by Psychology in the Classroom, written with fellow Chartered Psychologist Jonathan Firth. I am currently working on my third book Becoming Buoyant, looking at how students cope with day-to-day pressures of education and wider aspects of their life.

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

My main areas of interest revolve around resilience, specifically (but not exclusively) the role of academic resilience in achievement and wellbeing.

I am also interested in mental health, particularly as it pertains to teaching and learning.
