Sabine Marschall

Sabine has been exploring different aspects of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, commemoration, memorialization, and heritage tourism in South Africa. Her deeply rooted interest in memory has more recently shifted from collective to personal forms of remembrance, investigating especially the role of memory in the context of tourism and migration.

Biography

Sabine received her academic training in art and architectural history (PhD from Eberhardt-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Germany) and briefly taught at Clemson University, South Carolina (U.S.A), before moving to Durban, South Africa, where she was instrumental in establishing the Cultural and Heritage Tourism programme.
