Seung-hun Chun

Seung-hun Chun is currently President of the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS). Having engaged in development policy for South Korean government for three decades, he has been actively providing policy consultations to developing countries. He received a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan.

August 2012 ~ present: Policy Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rep. of Korea
August 2012 ~ July 2014: Korea International Development Cooperation Committee, Member (Prime Minister Office, Ministerial level)
September 2012 ~ December 2017: Chairman, Korea Industrial Development Consulting Forum (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources)

* Professional Experience in Economic Policy and Development Strategy
- 25 years of working experience at Economic Planning Board (EPB) and the Ministry of Finance and Economy(MOFE) as Director-General and Assistant Minister for economic policy and development planning since 1973. / Participated in designing economic development plans, rural development policy, industrial policy, human resource development (HRD), etc.
- Worked for the Korea Institute for Public Finance (KIPF) as Vice President, and for Korea Small Business Institute (KOSBI) as Senior Fellow during 1999 – 2006

- Conducted various consulting projects and advisory services such as:
  National Strategy for Small and Medium Enterprises in Mozambique (2006)
  National Development Strategy for Mongolia (2006)
  Governance and Anti-corruption for Kazakhstan (2005)
- Made personal report on national development strategy to the presidents of:
  Mongolia, H.E. Nambaryn Enkhbayar (2007)
  Ghana, H.E. John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor (2008)
  Rwanda, H.E. Paul Kagame (2008)
