BiographyPankaj is an independent political and market analyst. Till November 2016, he was heading Institutional Equities business for Equirus Securities. In this role, he had P&L responsibility and was running a profitable business with overall responsibility of driving new initiatives for business. He was a heading 35 member team which included 15 research analysts and eight members of sales/dealing team. Prior to this, he used to track Power Utilities, Capital Goods and Coal for UBS India for about seven and a half years. Pankaj was ranked 'No. 1 Utilities Analyst' in Asia Money and 'Runner Up' in Institutional investor Polls. He had also received Thomson Reuters' Starmine Analyst Award for 'Best Earning Estimates' and 'Best Stock Picker'. Before UBS, Pankaj spent a year with Citi and about three years with J P Morgan. Pankaj has also been involved with fund raising for start ups and has also been an entrepreneur.
Pankaj’s latest publication is Artificial Intelligence: Evolution, Ethics and Public Policy (by Saswat Sarangi and Pankaj Sharma, published at Routledge, Taylor and Francis). This book deals with the impact of Artificial Intelligence on humankind’s future. Pankaj published his first two books in the second half of 2017. They are: Demonetization: Modi’s Political Masterstroke (ISBN: 9789386826961 at Bloomsbury) and 2019: Will Modi Win? (ISBN: 9789387324176, KW Publishers). Demonetization: Modi’s Political Masterstroke looks at the political and economic impact of note ban of 2016.
